Why do you need College Sherpa? Because getting into the right college has never been more competitive.

Here are the facts:

· Acceptance to “elite” colleges and universities is increasingly difficult. On average, high schoolers graduating over the past five years had a 12.7% average acceptance rate at Ivy League schools (3% lower than the previous five years).

· Over 70% of college applicants submit three or more applications

· There has been a significant increase in foreign student applications

· The average tuition for in-state, public, four-year colleges has increased by 35% since 2002

· Over 60% of enrolled students do NOT finish where they started; 1/3 of all students, at 4 year institutions, transfer or leave college by the end of their 2^nd year. A poor “fit” will INCREASE your costs 25% - 50%.

Where can students seek college guidance? Unfortunately, high school counselors carry a heavy load. Nationally, the high school student-to-counselor ratio is an astonishing 490:1. The sheer numbers make it challenging to provide individualized college preparation advice to all students.

Parents are in a difficult position. They are time-constrained and lack awareness and experience regarding the current college admissions process.
